| Dusty Powers, Staff Shooter |
Hi there my name is Dustin Powers, but most people just call me Dusty. I grew up in northern Idaho in the mountains 16 miles outside of Orofino. My parents David and Donita Powers are recognized archers both in the woods and on the competitive circuit. With that in mind, there is no surprise that I grew up loving archery and everything it has to offer. I started flinging arrows at the age of 3 and have been doing so ever since. I took a few years off here and there to pursue other interests such as college, football, rock climbing, and a variety of other sports and outdoor activities. I started hunting with a bow at and earlier age with my first big game archery harvest being an antelope. I have since taken countless small game animals, Cougar, Hogs, Whitetail deer…. However, my passion is elk hunting where I have taken several good bulls, and a few cows, but I am still in search of the B&C bull that is just over the next horizon. In addition to hunting I have been shooting competitive archery for nearly as long as I have been shooting a bow. During the course of my career I have won hundreds of local and regional shoots with multiple state championships. I am a two time IBO national Triple Crown overall champion. I have also finished in the top 10 at the IBO World Championships on 5 separate occasions. My top finish was a tie for first. I have also won several nationally sanctioned tournaments and the IBO Western Triple Crown on four separate occasions. In addition to 3D archery I have started participating in NFAA and NAA sanction events as well. Although target shooting is new to me I have managed to win the NFAA southwest sectionals, an indoor state fita, joined the 1500 club at Redding on my first time shooting the tournament. I have also won other marked yardage events including the Utah state marked 3D.
