Hal McCurry
Dahlonega, GA

I am happily married to my beautiful wife Lisa. We are raising 4 wonderful sons.I have been bow hunting and shooting completive archery since 1986. I am an avid bow hunter. If I am not out shooting 3-D on the weekends then it must be hunting season and I am in the woods chasing whitetail, wild hogs, gators or turkeys. I have harvested countless whitetail deer and wild hogs by bow. I have been President off and on a few years at a time of a thriving local archery club where we have contribute all proceeds from a 3-D charity event each year to local children’s charities.I am new to Alpine this year. I made the switch because I feel like Alpine has a lot to offer in excellence for today’s archer. I look forward to using Alpine products for both hunting and competitive archery. At my first big shoot for 2009, I took 2nd place in Senior Open at the ASA FL Pro-Am with my Alpine Ventura. I love this bow.I shoot a lot of ASA Pro Am events. I have won an ASA World Championship and have consistently placed in the top 5 at many ASA Pro Am’s and ASA World Championships. I have only been to two IBO National events and took 2nd and 8th in those. I have won and placed in so many local events over the years that I wouldn’t even know where to start with that.

2004 – ASA Classic - We formed a local team for 2004 Columbus Sports Council Celebrity Shoot. Our team consisted of an Unlimited Pins shooter (me), an Open C, a Hunter Pins, Open Senior and a Senior Pro assigned to us. We found out once we got there that the teams had been stacked. The group next to us had 4 Women Pro’s and an Open Men’s Pro in it. The group on the other side of us had 3 Semi Pro’s, 1 Open A and 1 Pro in it. We thought were going to get killed. At the end, we took 2nd place in the shoot with over 100 up for the 20 target range. I shoot 20 up myself in the shoot.

2003 - ASA Federation Southern Region Champion in Hunter class.

2003 - Regional TOP GUN Champion member of a 4 man team in 2003 at the ASA TOP GUN Southern Regional Championship at the ASA Southern Regional in Anniston, AL. We won it all there.

2003 - ASA World - 2nd highest score (302 for the day for 30 targets in the 2003 ASA TOP GUN Nationals at ASA World. I was one of only 4 guys who shoot up (over 300) in the 30-target shoot down on that Saturday.

In 2001 and 2002 - I was shooter of the year in 3 of the 4 local clubs 2 years running North GA 3-D Archery Circuit.
I didn’t go to any National events in 2001 and 2002.

Over the years, I have won countless local shoots and Trophies. I stopped taking trophies in after 2002. I opted to step down in the events where I won after that to let the next shooters under me take the trophies home. Between my wife (she is also a very good shooter) and I we have an attic absolutely full of trophies that we plan on donating to a local club.
