I shot a bow for the first time in January of 2007. I fellow teacher brought hers to school one day and offered to let me shot it. That night I was in a pawn shop buying a bow. Six weeks and another bow later, my husband and I made the twelve hour trip to Paris, TX to an ASA Pro-Am tournament. I had never been to anything like it and was scared out of my mind, but I left there addicted!!! I was very proud of not blanking any targets on the second day. We attended all of the remaining ASA tournaments that year, and I continued to improve. I finished 15th for SOY in Women’s Bowhunter.
I sat out of tournament shooting last year after the birth of our second son in February. I am super excited to be back in it this year. I had a much better showing at my second Paris, TX shoot, finishing 5th out of 82 shooters. Not only that, but I was able catch up with some friends that I had not seen in a while. That is the best part of this sport. The friendships cannot be beaten! I am thankful to be able to join the Alpine family.
